Baghdad / NINA / - The Parliament voted to elect MP Farhad Amin Atrushi as Deputy Speaker.

Atrushi received 178 votes compared to 104 for his opponent, Ribwar Karim, with 12 invalid ballots.

Farhad Amin Salim Atrushi, known as Farhad Atrushi, was born on January 2, 1976, in Duhok Governorate. He is a Kurdish politician and a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

He served as the former Governor of Duhok in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (2014-2020).

He was sworn in as Governor of Duhok Governorate on June 12, 2014, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Atroushi previously served as a member of the Iraqi House of Representatives from 2010 to 2014, during which time he was a member of the Oil and Gas Committee (Energy Committee).

He lectured at the College of Law and Politics at the University of Duhok from 2006 to 2010.

He was the Vice Chair of the Department at the College of Law at Nawroz University in Duhok from 2004 to 2006. In 2001, he lectured at the International Islamic Constitutional University in Malaysia. He is a graduate of the International Islamic University Malaysia.

He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the American University in Duhok. / End
