Baghdad / NINA /- Iranian sources revealed the contents of US President Donald Trump's letter to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the day after Tehran announced that it had officially responded to the letter.
Trump said in his letter, according to the text published by the Director of the Arab Center for Iranian Studies, Muhammad Saleh Sedgian, on his account on the X platform: "Your Excellency, Ayatollah Khamenei... With respect for the stature of your leadership and the people of Iran, I am writing you this letter with the aim of opening new horizons for our relations, away from the years of conflict, misunderstanding, and unnecessary confrontations that we have witnessed in the past decades. The time has come to leave behind hostility and open a new page of cooperation and mutual respect. Today, too, there is a historic opportunity before us."
He added: "The United States of America, under my leadership, is prepared to take a major step toward peace and de-escalation. Together, we can lift sanctions, empower the Iranian economy, and open the doors of cooperation between our two countries, not only for the benefit of our two peoples, but for the benefit of stability and peace in the Middle East and the entire world. But I warn you: if you reject this extended hand, and if the Iranian regime chooses the path of escalation, continued support for terrorist organizations, and military adventures, the response will be decisive and swift. We will not stand idly by in the face of your regime's threats to our people or our allies."
He continued: "Peace is not weakness; it is the choice of the strong. The Iranian people are a great people who deserve a better future, far from isolation, poverty, and suffering. If you are ready to negotiate, we are ready as well. But if you continue to ignore the demands of the world, history will record that you have missed a great opportunity." /End
