A statement by the Ministry of Oil noted that, "in line with the government’s directives and its official program, and pursuant to instructions from the Minister of Oil, Basim Mohammed Khudair Al-Abadi, the Director General of the Oil Projects Company—Ali Ward Hamoud, who also heads the Iraqi task force for the Trilateral Coordination Council (Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt)—chaired the team’s second meeting. The meeting was held via video conference to continue discussions on proposed strategic projects and to develop avenues for joint cooperation in the oil, energy, and petrochemical sectors."
The statement added, "The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Department of Studies, Planning, and Follow-up; representatives from relevant departments within the Ministry of Oil; representatives from the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers; and officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Industry and Minerals. Also in attendance were representatives from the concerned authorities in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan."
He noted that "the meeting involved a discussion of the technical and operational details of the crude oil export pipeline project (Basra–Haditha), including the pipeline’s diameter, its capacity, the targeted volumes of crude oil to be transported and exported, as well as the project’s associated branches, routes, and the mechanisms for utilizing it within the framework of the trilateral cooperation."
He added, "The meeting also addressed inquiries and observations raised by representatives from the Jordanian and Egyptian sides regarding these details, with the necessary technical clarifications provided."
The statement continued, "Discussions also covered the joint petrochemical complex project, as well as the requirements for supplying the crude oil, petroleum products, and raw materials necessary for the proposed industrial projects."
Furthermore, he pointed out that "the meeting addressed projects for the construction of storage facilities and refineries, as well as the development of new export outlets for Iraqi oil and its derivatives via the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. Additionally, the meeting reviewed several initiatives and projects proposed by the Egyptian side—such as a coking project and a sustainable aviation fuel project—while also exploring the technical capabilities of Egyptian companies in executing oil and gas projects, and discussing prospects for cooperation in hydrogen production technology."
In conclusion, the Director General of the Oil Projects Company emphasized the importance of continuing technical and coordination dialogues, as well as enhancing the exchange of information and expertise among the relevant authorities in the three countries. This will facilitate an in-depth study of the proposed projects and the addressing of technical inquiries, ultimately leading to the definition of implementation requirements and a transition from the discussion phase to practical steps that foster economic partnership and integration within the oil, energy, and industrial sectors. / End
