Prime Minister: Government moving forward with plans to expand the oil sector
A statement by the Prime Minister’s Media Office noted that "Al-Zaidi received, on Thursday, Mohamed Al-Amin, the Middle East representative for the American oil company ExxonMobil. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs (who also serves as the Minister of Oil), Iraq’s Ambassador to the United States, and several advisors."
The statement added: "During the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation between Iraq and the company, in line with the government’s program objectives for the economy and energy sectors, aimed at increasing Iraq’s crude oil production."
The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to expanding Iraq’s oil sector—covering export, production, and refining—and expressed a desire to leverage the best modern technology and advanced expertise available in this field.
Al-Zaidi underscored an openness to productive partnerships, the transfer of modern technologies, and the attraction of foreign investment—supported by the facilitations the government is implementing in the investment sphere—to strengthen Iraq’s position in the global energy market. / End
