A statement by the Minister's office stated that "Al-Hamdani received the Turkish Ambassador in Baghdad, Fatih Yildiz, and his accompanying delegation to discuss issues related to shared water between the two countries."
Al-Hamdani called on Ambassador Faisal Urughlu, the Special Envoy of the Turkish Prime Minister for Water Affairs and the Turkish Minister of Forestry, and a number of experts, researchers and specialists, to participate in the activities of the First Baghdad International Water Conference, which will be held for the period from March 13-14, to clarify the importance of integrated management of water resources to achieve the common interests of all under the challenges of climate change.
During the meeting, it was stressed the need to activate the protocol of joint cooperation between the two countries, submitted by the Iraqi government to guarantee Iraq's water rights in the Tigris River and achieve common interests, which was discussed during the meeting, which took place via closed-circuit television with the special envoy of the Turkish Prime Minister for Water Affairs Faisal Uroglu, in addition to address the stages of preparing the infrastructure for establishing a joint research center with the Turkish side, based in Baghdad. / End
