A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and discussed a number of issues of common concern, the field of research and strategic studies, exchange of experiences in political science, building national capabilities, and holding specialized seminars and conferences.
He added that the results of the recent meetings in Jeddah and Amman were also discussed in preparation for the upcoming Arab summit this month, and stressed the importance of regional cooperation and joint coordination in the field of combating terrorism to preserve the security of the two countries and the stability of the region.
For his part, the Syrian Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the positions of the Iraqi government in support of the Syrian people, and the interest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in expanding bilateral cooperation, and praised Iraq's honorable role and its efforts to resolve the crisis in Syria./ End
