Nujeifi discusses establishment of Supreme Council for Water with Iraq’s representative to FAO

Baghdad (NINA) – Parliament Speaker, Osama Al Nujeifi, discussed with ambassador Hani Al Janabi, Iraq’s representative to the Food and Agriculture Organization FAO the possibilities of establishing a Supreme Water Council comprising competent figures to organize and take care of the water resources and the best way for exploiting them.

A statement issued by Nujeifi’s office today said both sides discussed the possibility of FAO, based in Rome, providing technical aid to assess the underground water in the western desert and to use them in agricultural domains.

For his part, Janabi expressed the FAO readiness to provide the needed expertise to hold a symposium in this regard in cooperation with the ministries of agriculture and water resources, higher education, parliamentary committees, and the Iraqi investment commission. /End/
