The mayor of Tikrit escapes an assassination attempt.

Tikrit / NINA / The Mayor of Tikrit, Omar Al-Shendak escaped an assassination attempt yesterday when an armed attack took place while he was inspecting a project area of establishing homes for the displaced in the region of the Al-Jazera area west of Tikrit.

A security source told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that "unidentified gunmen, opened fire towards the mayor of Tikrit Omar Al- Shendak in the al-Jazera area west of Tikrit and clashed with his bodyguards until the police arrival to the scene. The police managed to arrest seven armed while the others fled. "/ End
