Sulaymaniyah / NINA / A member of the political bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Adnan al-Mufti said that President Jalal Talabani sent a message to the Gen. commander Ali Ghaidan, the leader of ground forces warning him of the consequences of what he called a violation of the Constitution asking him to go back on the decision to move the army.
Al-Mufti said that Talabani's message came after Ghaidan passed a decision and circulated on a number of Army Units about how to move in some areas, noting that Talabani said in his message that the Constitution in Article 67 stipulates not to intervene the army in political affairs.
Mufti said that Talabani called Ghaidan saying: "You are not a legitimate leader because a leader in your position must get the legitimacy from the parliament and you did not do that and I will refer you to justice if you do not go back on the decision to move the army.
On the relationship between Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and Talabani, Adnan al-Mufti said: There is no direct relationship between them, adding that a copy of the letter was sent to al-Maliki also as being the commander in chief of the Iraqi armed forces.
The relations between the central government and the Kurdistan region has seen an escalation on the background of the formation of the Tigris operations Command by The Federal Government to be deployed in the provinces of Diyala, Kirkuk and Salahuddin, which is considered by the Kurdistan region a step directed against the region./ End
