Baghdad (NINA) - Tthe Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq, Martin Kobler, expressed respect to all those in Iraq who are offering services to the needy.
In a statement published on Sunday, Aug. 19, Kobler said, "We felt the great humanitarian spirit the Iraqis posses in all trends of life, especially since last month with the growing number of refugees fleeing the ongoing violence in Syria."
He added, "We felt big sacrifices toward helping other, they generously offerece help, even when they themselves are in need; their commitments to help the needy is a source of inspiration to us all, I salute them for that."
The International Day for Humanitarian Work on August 19, coincide with the day when the UN headquarters in Baghdad was attacked on 2003 killing 22 persons. / End.
