Martin Kobler to NINA: forming UN team to follow up adoption oil and gas law.
11/08/2012 10:08:00

BAGHDAD / NINA / Martin Kobler, the representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations said that he will form a team from the United Nations to follow up the adoption oil and gas law.

He said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that he " will directly after Eid al-Fitr, form a team to follow up the adoption of the oil and gas law, due to the importance of this law to the economy in Iraq and the overall life in Iraq, and because the bulk of Iraq's budget depends on the oil sector".

He stressed that the political blocs need to harmonize with each other in the process of sharing oil wealth in order to contribute in reviving the Iraqi economy, noting that all political blocs are well informed, that there is no agreement without consensus on the distribution of oil wealth among the components of the Iraqi people. "

It is mentioned , that the Federal Government ratified in August 2011, the draft of oil and gas law, and submitted it to the Parliament for approval, while the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy, Hussain al-Shahristani declared that the government made "some amendments " to the long-awaited oil law that the Energy Committee of the Cabinet reviewed. / End
