Baghdad (NINA) - Foreign Undersecretary, Labeed Abbawi, chaired on Tuesday, Aug. 7, a meeting of the follow up committee to implement the Memo of Understanding between Iraq and Australia.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted Abbawi during the meeting attended by Australian Ambassador to Iraq, Ms Lyndall Sachs and representatives of Iraqi concerned ministries, pointing out the importance of developing relations with Australia, being Iraq's major partner, and the necessity to activate this relations through implementing the Memo of Understanding between the two countries.
For her part, Ambassador Sachs pointed out tnat Australia's aid program has been reduced and instead it intends to establish mutual cooperation between the two countries, since Iraq possesses vast wealth that encourage Australian firms and investors to enter Iraq's markets.
In the meeting, the date of 21/November/2012 was set for the committee's next meeting. / End.
