Baghdad (NINA) - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq, Mr. Martin Kobler, urged Iraqi government not to resort to violence, under any circumstances, and to deal generously with humanitarian needs of Ashraf Camp's residents; stressing that the United Nations will not support but a peaceful and humanitarian solution to the issue on the New Iraq Camp, formerly Ashraf.
A statement issued on Tuesday, July 31, by the United Nation's Mission (UNAMI) quoted Kobler, while attending a meeting on the New Iraq Camp (formerly Ashraf Camp), at the invitation extended by Iraqi government to diplomatic body on the preparations of the upcoming transfer to Freedom Camp (Liberty), without delay, where weak and minors will be moved within next group.
He called on the international supporters to bear their responsibilities, demanding member states to help resettle the Camp's residents in their countries. / End.
