Baghdad (NINA) – Lawmaker from the Kurdish Alliance, Mahma Khalil, said that the KA supports the nomination of lawmaker from Iraqiya, Talal al-Zuba'e, for the post of Defence Minister.
In a statement to the press on Friday, July 20, Khalil said that the Kurdish Alliance strongly supports nominating lawmaker Talal al-Zuba'e for the post of Minister of Defence, being a professional and patriotic personality that enjoys the trust and support of Kurdish leaders.
He added that the Kurds have historic relations with the sheikhs of Zuba' Tribe who led the 1920's Revolution and have been hosted for two years, "The Kurdish Alliance will vote for and supports Zubae's nomination in Parliament when the names of nominees be presented." He pointed out.
Some media outlets said that Adnan al-Asadi will be nominated for the post of Interior Minister and lawmaker Talal al-Zuba'e for the post of Minister of Defence.
Source close to the leader of Iraqiya slate, Iyad Allawi, said that the most possible nominee for the post of Defence Minister is Talal al-Zuba'e.
The source added that Zuba'e enjoys being accepted by members of Iraqiya slate, National Alliance and Kurdish Alliance.
Earlier, political sources said that Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki chose three personalities to be nominated for the post, they are Salah al-Jobouri, Mustafa al-Heeti and Sadoon al-Dulaimi for the post of Defence Minister. / End.
