Baghdad (NINA) – The Sadrist Trend's Politboruea held a meeting on Sunday afternoon, June 3, to discussing current political crisis.
The semi official Iraqiya television channel said that the Sadrist Trend's Politboruae met on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier, the Trend's Leader, Muqtada al-Sadr called for holding a referendum on whether to withdraw confidence from the government of Nuri al-Maliki, if conditions for holding such a referendum are available.
Sadr was quoted by his office saying, "I support holding a referendum on whether to withdraw confidence from Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, holding such a referendum is to be agreed on by official and public bodies, and to be supervised by a honest and impartial civil society body."
It is worth noting that Iraqiya slate announced that it has gathered signatures more than requires for withdrawing confidence from Maliki; saying that it is aiming the number of signatories to reach the number 200 signatories.
The number of votes needed to withdraw confidence from the government of Nuri al-Maliki is 164 out of total number of lawmakers of 325. / End.
