Baghdad (NINA) – President Jalal Talabani affirmed to US Ambassador to Iraq, James Jeffrey, on the end of his tenure in Iraq, his sincere efforts in encouraging political adversaries to solve their outstanding problems through fraternal dialogue and abiding by the Constitution, as well as implementing reached agreements.
A statement issued on Friday, May 25, by the President's Office quoted Talabani stressing, during the meeting, the necessity to develop mechanism for expanding the Iraq-US relations in the interest of mutual interests.
Talabani praised Ambassador Jeffrey's efforts toward consolidating relations between the two countries, wishing him success in his professional life.
For his part, Ambassador Jeffrey renewed the United States interests in supporting Iraq's democratic political process, asserting the developing the relations between Iraq and the United States will have benefit effects on both countries.
He expressed gratitude to President Talabani for the support he received during his service in Iraq, and praising the President's role in dealing with Iraq's outstanding issues and handling crisis. / End.
