Baghdad (NINA) – President Jalal Talabani discussed with Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki current political issues and means to deal with problems and outstanding crisis.
A statement issued on Friday, May 25, by the President's Office said, "Talabani received Maliki on Friday noon asserting that constructive dialogue is the mean to reach successful solution to outstanding problems." He called at the same time for preparing suitable environments for the dialogue away from tens oration and the exchange of accusations and seek common grounds.
For his part, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki praised President Talabani's efforts, especially his initiative announced on the 17th of this month that are suitable for dialogue based on the Constitution and previous agreements reached.
On May 17, Talabani announced an initiative calling to end media campaigns and to abide to the Constitution and the principles of partnership in running the state.
A statement issued by the President's Office said that in recent days, President Talabani exerted intensive effort and many meeting with the countries leader, Parliament's blocs and political parties. He called on all to put the interests of the country and people above all other interests.
The statement added that on light these consultations, the President calls for ending the exchange of media campaigns and disregard tens oration, adopting instead constructive dialogue and rely on the Constitution, being source for decision making, on which current government has been formed on. And the Erbil Agreement, as well as, abiding by the principles of national partnership in running the state. / End.
