Baghdad (NINA) – President Jalal Talabani discussed with Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki the status quo in Iraq and means to reach permanent national accord in Iraq.
Presidential statement quoted Talabani as stressing, during reception of Maliki “dialogue is the only solution to pass the differences and crises,” reiterating that “the presidential 8 points statement included visions and ideas that could be the basis for such dialogue.”
He added “any of the parties could have demands and complaints from the other party; therefore, the open dialogue is a necessity. It should take place under the constitution, legislations and understandings.”
For his part, Maliki expressed his full support for the 8 points presidential statement, confirming that “the president’s role, as a guardian on the constitution, is the decisive opinion in these differences.”
He added that Talabani’s call for dialogue stems from his keenness on Iraq’s stability. /End/
