Kurdish KNN channel manager bailed out

Sulaymaniya (NINA) – Sulaymaniya Court released today Hoshiyar Abdullah, KNN channel manager, on a bail after a lawsuit was filed against him by the former Water Resources Minister in the Iraqi government.

Abdullah told NINA that the interrogation judge decided to release him on a bail after attending the court session in the case filed against him for airing a news about the former minister Lateef Rasheed.

KNN aired news, months ago, quoting a news agency about Rasheed’s receiving more than $250.000 to take part in the FAO organization meeting and running for presidency of that UN body.

The minister filed a lawsuit against Abdullah according to article 433 of the Iraqi penalties law which considers airing such new as defamation. /End/
