BAGHDAD / NINA / Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari confirmed that " Iraq will not be a springboard for any aggression against Syria and will not provide any facilities on that subject ," stressing that Iraq is working on putting things towards a peaceful settlement .
He said in a press conference held today with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif : "Through my visit to Washington and Europe I have found that there is a tendency of some countries to strike Syria, and there is lingered too," pointing out that " the date of the strike is unknown to us and these countries will determine the strike ."
He added: "We are working with all we can to find a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis , because bombing Syria will affect security and humanly on Iraq and the rest of the region."
He continued: "The Iraqi-US relations will continue in the Convention on the strategic relations and will not be affected over Syria , but we have to redouble our efforts to avoid the worst of what is happening in Syria and the countries of the region."
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister said : "The region lives in sensitive circumstances, which require cooperation among all countries in the region , not only Iraq and Iran , and we must work to prevent the occurrence of a bloody war in Syria because the implications and repercussions will include all countries in the region ."
He called on all sides in the Syrian conflict to resort to the table of dialogue and talks to resolve the crisis and avoid the use of force from the other parties.
He explained: "The U.S. President entered into the trap of war on Syria and we hope he comes out of this trap because the subject is not in his benefit
nor the interests of the countries in the region , hoping that the talks with Iraq and the rest of the parties that claim to peace will prevent the war against Syria."
He stressed that "Iran will not undertake any action against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq as hitting U.S. interests in Iraq in response to Syria's strike ," adding that who called these statements justify the strike on Syria. / End
