Baghdad /NINA / MP, for the Iraqiya coalition, Walid Mohammadi described the government's position on the Syrians displaced stranded at the border with Iraq as a violation to the international conventions of refugees on humanitarian grounds.
He said in a press statement today that "there are is wounded Syrians displaced due to the shelling of the Syrian regime, died on the Iraqi border ,they demanded to enter Iraq but they were prevented."
He noted that "this situation may hurt the reputation of Iraq and gives a bad image for the Iraqi people and their government," calling on the government to "correct this situation."
He explained " the Iraqi government should respond to the calls of citizens of Anbar and Nineveh provinces that demand reopening the border crossings to the Syrian displaced, especially those displaced have relatives in Iraq, most of them are children, women and elderly as well wounded due to the bombing there.".
He called international human rights organizations to "help the Iraqi government to take such a decision by helping them in providing logistical support to contain the displaced people and to provide food, medicine and setting up camps for them."
The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee of displaced, MP Liqa Wardi demanded the government to reconsider its decision to close Qaim outlet border./End
