Baghdad (NINA) – Fadheel Party official, Suzan al-Sa'ad, criticized that women are represented in the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), though the former Commission contained a number of women.
In a statement to the press on Saturday, Aug, 11, al-Sa'ad said that to increase the number of the IHEC members is the best solution for wider representation of the peoples' components, especially that minorities have only be represented with one seat that created disagreement within Parliament.
Sa'ad, a lawmaker from Basra, demanded the Body of Experts, charged with choosing the IHEC members, to increase number of the Commission's members, which agree with the Constitution's text.
In its session last Monday, Parliament decided to extend the works of present IHEC for extra 30 days, because no agreement has been reached on choosing members of the new Commission. / End.
