Baghdad (NINA) – Leader of the Sadrist Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr called for not taking negative attitude toward the Syrian issue, he affirmed that neither him nor any of his followers will interfere in its affairs.
The Sadr's Office quoted him on Wednesday, June 27, saying in response to a question by one of his followers about a statement by a Kuwaiti lawmaker that Sadr is not welcomed in Kuwait, because he supports Syrian regime. Sadr replied, "I have not and will not talk badly about Kuwait, it is a dear neighbor, if any of my followers said improper thing about Kuwait, I apologize to Kuwait's government and people, I will sent my direct appoligy to them."
As for the situation in Syria, Sadr said, "I did not and will not and none of my followers should interfere, yet I sympathize with all people; I pray to God to put an end to the bloodshed in Syria."
Sadr called on all sides not to take negative attitude toward the Syrian issue, calling for putting an end to sectarian inflammation and making Syrian a place to settle their disputes.
Sadr arrived in Kuwait on Monday and met with the Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in the presence of its Foreign Minister, Sheikh Muhammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah. / End.
