BAGHDAD / Nina / Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki discussed with the Minister of Agriculture Izz al-Din al-Dawla via telephone ways of supporting the local agricultural product.
A statement of the information bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture quoting the minister as saying that: "During the call we emphasized on preventing the entry of foreign crops that currently available in local markets, and the necessity of implementing the directives and instructions by the border ports in this regard."
He added: "The prime minister expressed his satisfaction with the efforts made and the follow up of the implementation of these directives and instructions that are in support of Iraqi peasants and farmers."
The minister noted that the Ministry of Agriculture seeks to ensure the implementation of this decision through communication with the provinces that have a surplus in production. /End
