Baghdad (NINA) – Lawmaker from Iraqiya Alliance, Wehdeh al-Jumaily said that the Alliance does not object on the Leader of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council (SIIC), Ammar al-Hakeem, or on him mediating in the issue of withdrawing confidence, but it strongly objects to, "Iran becoming a pressure force."
In a statement to the press on Wednesday, June 20, Jumaily said that the issue is a domestic Iraqi one; and allowing a foreign party to intervene allows other regional and international forces to intervene.
Jumaily added, "Intervention by foreign forces weakens Iraqi national decision and lead to making it an international issue."
Leader of the SIIC presented an initiative of two folds; and a source from inside the National Alliance said that the Alliance will discuss Hakeem's initiative before presenting it to other parties.
He added that the first part of the initiative consists of calming the political forces' oration through the media; while the second part consists of demanding the political blocs to lower the ceiling of their demands, especially their demand of withdrawing confidence from Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.
Previously, Hakeem had introduced a number of initiatives, mainly the round table talks. / End.
