BAGHDAD / Nina / the Commander in Chief of the armed forces Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki inaugurated the University of Defense for Military Studies and Al-Nahrain Military Center for Strategic studies.
Maliki said in a speech during the opening ceremony: "The opening of the University of Defense for Military Studies and Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies is an important step in the process of state building, which is based on right scientific policies through specialists who can provide all the expertise to the country."
He added: "This University and this center are big steps in the process of building the state according to systematic plan, not improvised policies, because the university contains the National Security College and War College, which will be awarded master and doctoral degrees."
Maliki stressed " the center should contribute in putting structure of the state, through a national strategic security, especially as we live in a region plagued by anxiety and uncertainty," pointing out : "There are a lot of question marks facing the trails of the State".
Maliki made it clear " the specialization of the Institute is to study and analyze the results of military and security operations and conduct seminars and international conferences and calling international experts, because we are part of the world that is facing the same challenges we face," adding: "The center will not be the only one in Iraq, but there will be similar centers in other universities."
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Army Chief of Staff Babacar Zebari, team leaders and military brigades, and a number of officers from other countries, and a number of ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions. / End
