Baghdad (NINA) – Member of Iraqiya Alliance, Falah al-Naqeeb, said that the process of withdrawing confidence from Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is moving on its way regardless of pressure being exerted.
In a statement to the press on Saturday, June 16, Naqeeb said, "The issue of withdrawing confidence from Maliki has not ended when President Talabani announced that the quorum has not been achieved."
He went on, "We believe that the number of signatories demanding withdrawing confidence from Maliki exceeded required quorum; therefore Parliament has to convene and summon Maliki to withdraw confidence in accordance with legal and Constitutional procedures."
Naqeeb pointed out that many lawmakers from Sadrist Trend, Kurdish Alliance and Iraqiya Alliance, in addition to many others, still insist on voting to withdraw confidence. / End.
