Baghdad (NINA) – President Jalal Talabani received on Wednesday, May 30, an official Russian delegation, headed by Special Envoy of Russian President Foreign Undersecretary, Michael Bugdanov.
A statement issued by the President's Ofice said that Talabani pointed out the historic relations between Iraq and Russia, stressing the importance of joint work to consolidate the relations and develop them in all fields in the interests of both countries' people.
Talabani pointed out that Iraq's political leaders have strong desire to consolidate mutual friendship and constructive cooperation with Russia, specially the fields of economic, trade and oil, as well as investment and reconstruction.
The delegation conveyed the regards of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian leadership to President Talabani, pointing out that Russian leadership looks with interest toward consolidate the relations between Russai and Iraq, including Kurdistan region.
In addition to Foreign Undersecretary, the Russian delegation included the Chairman of the Federation of Oil and Gas Producers.
Deputy Secretary General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Barham Saleh, attended the meeting. / End.
