Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki called on the Arab League to draw in cooperation with international agencies a strategy dealing with the reduction in water supplies to safeguard Arab countries' rights.
Maliki added during his attendance on Tuesday evening, May 29, the opening of the First Arab Conference on Waters, organized in cooperation between the Arab League's Ministry of Water Resources and Arab Ministerial Council on Waters, he said that this Conference is being held amid reduction in water supplies and increase desertization.
He added that he wishes for the Conference to realize the danger of reduction in wate supply and treat it in scientific means, especially that it affects agriculture, food security and human health.
The Conference opened in Baghdad on Tuesday, May 29, with the participation of 13 Arab states. It was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Hussein al-Shahrastani, and First Deputy Speaker of Parliament. / End.
