Baghdad (NINA) – Leader of the National Iraqi Conference (NIC), Ahmed al-Chalabi, discussed with Egypt's Ambassador to Iran Shareef Chaheen, the relations between Iraq and Egypt.
A statement issued on Thursday, May 24, by the NIC quoted Chalabi asserting, "Egypt has a glorious history and is a model for the Arab Nation; positive developments that took place and are taking place will have a reflection on the Arab countries. He added that the Iraqis are looking for more cooperation with Egyp; he regards strong relations with Egypt to be the base for managing the area.
For his part, Ambassador Chaheen said that for their part, the Egyptians are looking forward to carry out, along with Iraq, a vital role to reinstate balance to the Arabs, where former circumstances prevented it.
He added that current circumstances are suitable for establishing best relations between Baghdad and Cairo, and Egypt seeks for a larger cooperation with Iraq; he expressed Egyptian firms' readiness to work and invest in Iraq. / End.
