Baghdad (NINA) – Minister of Justice, Hassan al-Shimari, and US Ambassador to Iraq, James Jeffrey, discusses the political situation and current political crisis.
The Justice Ministry's Media Bureau, quoted Shimari during his meeting with Jeffrey, asserting improvement in Iraq's prisons to meet human rights standards.
For his part, Ambassador Jeffrey said that the United States continues its support to Iraq's government within the frames of the Strategic Agreement concluded between Iraq and the United States, praising improvements in Iraq's prisons to meet standards of human rights.
The two also discussed the country's current political crisis. They agreed that political crisis provide suitable environment for armed and terrorist groups to become active to increase violence; therefore, it is in the interest of all participants in the political process to move toward calming the situation and find suitable solutions that contribute for the country's stability and security. / End.
