Baghdad (NINA) – Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari, affirmed Iraq's keenness to fulfill its obligations and work alongside Kuwait to get Iraq out the mandate of of Article VII.
A statement issued on Sunday, May 20, by the Foreign Ministry's Media Bureau quoted Zebari affirming in his meeting with Ambassador Gennady Tarasov, the UN high-level coordinator for Iraq/Kuwait persons and property, "Iraq's keenness to fulfill its obligations and seriously work alongside Kuwait get out of Chapter VII mandate."
The statement added, "Zebari explained to the International Coordinator the efforts exerted by Iraq, in cooperation with Kuwaiti officials and concerned international sides to finalize the issue of missing Kuwait persons and property.
He added that Iraq handed to Kuwait, in the presence of the UN Coordinator, batches of the Kuwaiti archive and possessions, as well as exerting efforts searching of the remaining possessions.
For his part, Tarasov expressed gratitude to Iraq's serious efforts in this regards and offering his readiness to provide all help required to close these issues.
The two also touched on the positive development of the Iraq-Kuwait relations. / End.
