Najaf (NINA) – Leader of the Sadrist Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, said that today's meeting has put final touches toward solving Iraq's current political crisis.
In a joint press conference held with the leaders of some political blocs who have met on Saturday afternoon, May 19, at his house in Najaf, Sadr said, "The convened put final touches toward solving the country's political crisis in accordance with the written agreement reached in Erbil."
He added, "We put the interests of Iraq and its people before us, as long as I am here noting that harms the Iraqis' interest will happen." He pointed out that he will keep defending the Iraqi people until democracy achieved."
As for Erbil Agreement for solving the political crisis, Sadr said, "Today we put final touches solve current political crisis."
For his part, Iraqiya official and Speaker of Parliament, Usama al-Nijaifi, said, "All have to work in unity and put the interest of the Iraqis above all other interests, whether they are ethnic, sectarian or group."
He pointed out that all components of the Iraqi people were represented in the meeting through political blocs who have agreed to realize the national project. / End.
