A statement issued by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate today "this directive was given during a meeting of the Minister with Chairman of the Journalists Syndicate, Mu’ayad Al Lami, where ways of activating the release of advances for journalists were discussed to support their living and economic status and improve their life."
"The procedure is part of the journalists’ rights law No. 21 for 2011 and in recognition of the great sacrifices made by the Iraqi journalists who are performing their national and professional mission," the statement added.
For his part, Chairman of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate expressed "thanks and gratitude to the Minister of Finance and his continuous support to journalists," praising the "understanding of the minister for the Iraqi Journalists’ role in the march of the new democratic Iraq." /End/
