Baghdad (NINA) – The Secretary General of the International Journalists Union, Eden White, demanded the American forces to initiate a comprehensive investigation on the crimes committed by American forces in Iraq in killing twenty journalists and to uncover the out come to the public.
In a message received by the President of Iraqi Journalists Union, Mo’ayad al-Lami, on the occasion of International Day of Freedom of Journalism, Eden called on the Iraqi government to uncover the conditions of assassinating over 300 journalists and media people during the last seven years and to bring those responsible to justice.
In his message, Whit said, “We must ask the Iraqi government why, regardless of all promises, Iraq has chosen not to reply to the UNESCO’s messages concerning the killing of journalists and why not even one investigation has been done about the crimes against journalists between 2006 and 2009.
He stressed the need for having a legal environment to protect journalists from those who use their authorities to overstep the freedom
