Baghdad (NINA) - Iraqi Security Forces arrested a suspected terrorist today during a joint security operation conducted in southwest Baghdad in search of a Jaysh al-Mahdi (JAM) attack cell leader.
A statement issued on Saturday, Feb. 6, by the American Army said, "Iraqi Security Forces and U.S. advisors searched three residential buildings for a suspected JAM leader responsible for coordinating training in Iran for militants loyal to the terrorist organization."
It added, "The JAM leader is also allegedly involved in weapons smuggling activity, and believed to be actively planning rocket attacks and assassinations targeting government officials in Baghdad."
The statement concluded, "Information gathered during the operation resulted in the arrest of one suspect associated with the JAM attack cell leader." / End.
